What is GST and Why Does it Matter for Your Business?

Goods and Services Tax (GST) is India's unified indirect tax that replaced multiple levies like VAT, Service Tax, and Excise Duty. Introduced on 1 July 2017, GST applies to the supply of goods and services across India. Every registered business must collect, compute, and remit GST on every eligible transaction.

GST has four primary slabs: 5% (essential goods), 12% (processed food, computers), 18% (most services, electronics, restaurants), and 28% (luxury items, automobiles).

How to Use the GST Calculator

  1. Enter the amount — type the price of your product or service.
  2. Select the GST rate — click the appropriate slab (5%, 12%, 18%, 28%).
  3. "Add GST" computes GST on top of your base price. "Remove GST" extracts the base price from an inclusive amount.
  4. Instant results — CGST, SGST, total GST and final amount appear immediately.
Add GST: GST Amount = (Base × GST%) ÷ 100  |  Total = Base + GST
Remove GST: Base = Original × 100 ÷ (100 + GST%)  |  GST = Original − Base
Threshold
Businesses with turnover above ₹40L (goods) or ₹20L (services) must register for GST.
Filing
GSTR-3B monthly. GSTR-1 monthly or quarterly for outward supplies.
Input Tax Credit
Registered businesses can claim credit on GST paid on purchases to reduce tax liability.
Place of Supply
CGST+SGST for intra-state; IGST for inter-state transactions.

EMI Calculator — Loan EMI Calculation Online

Calculate monthly EMI for home, personal, car or business loans. Get full interest and principal breakdown.

What is EMI and How Does It Affect Your Business Finances?

Equated Monthly Instalment (EMI) is a fixed payment made by a borrower to a lender every month. EMI consists of two components: principal repayment and interest payment. In early months, the interest component is higher; as the loan matures, principal repayment increases.

For Indian businesses, EMI calculations are critical when planning capital expenditure, purchasing equipment on finance, taking business loans, or helping real estate customers finance property purchases.

EMI Formula: P × r × (1+r)^n ÷ [(1+r)^n − 1]
P = Principal  |  r = Monthly rate (Annual ÷ 12 ÷ 100)  |  n = Months

Understanding TDS — Tax Deducted at Source

Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) is a mechanism under the Indian Income Tax Act where tax is deducted at the point of payment. The deductor (payer) deducts a specified percentage from the payment made to the payee and deposits it with the government. TDS applies on salary, rent, professional fees, interest, commission, contractor payments, and many other transactions.

Non-compliance attracts interest of 1% per month for non-deduction and 1.5% per month for non-deposit after deduction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. All four calculators — GST, EMI, TDS and NRE Days — are 100% free. No sign-up, no credit card, no hidden charges. Use them as many times as needed from any device.

The calculator uses the standard GST formula prescribed by the Government of India. It correctly handles both exclusive (adding GST) and inclusive (removing GST) calculations for all GST slabs: 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%.

"Exclusive" means your entered amount does not include GST — the calculator adds it on top. "Inclusive" means the entered amount already includes GST — the calculator extracts the base price and GST portion.

Yes. It works for home loan, personal loan, car loan, business loan or education loan — enter the amount, interest rate and tenure, and the EMI is calculated instantly.

The TDS calculator covers Sections 192, 194, 194A, 194C, 194H, 194I, 194J, and a custom rate option for any other section.

Residential status determines your taxable income scope. Residents are taxed on global income; NRIs are taxed only on income earned or received in India. Wrong status leads to over-taxation or penalties.
